Staff at Addaction have organised a number of activities to mark this year’s World Mental Health Day on Wednesday 10 October.
Members of the public are invited to turn up to Addaction’s Mental Health service centre in Sittingbourne and enjoy breakfast and a ‘Walk and Talk session from 9.00 -10.30am.
World Mental Health Day aims to raise public awareness about mental health issues and promote open discussion of mental disorders and understand what investments in prevention, promotion and treatment services there are. This year’s theme is “Depression: A Global Crisis”.
Depression affects more than 350 million people of all ages, in all communities, and is a significant contributor to the global burden of disease. Although there are known effective treatments for depression, access to treatment is a problem in most countries and in some countries fewer than 10% of those who need it receive such treatment.
Addaction offers a wide range of advice, treatment and services for mental health issues, including depression, anxiety and stress. People can either be referred by their GP or by self-referral.
Addaction has recently been awarded ‘Any qualified provider’ status to deliver mental health services in Kent and Medway and Surrey.
