Researchers claim that the third Monday in January is the most depressing day of the year. Renamed Blue Monday, it has been recognised as a day that many of us feel low, due to post Christmas finances, lack of daylight and physical illnesses at this time of year.
Addaction’s Mental Health Services in Thanet have noticed a significant increase in referrals for this time of year, which suggests that people in the area may be feeling more depressed and/or anxious, compared to this time last year.
Addaction provides a wide range of NHS funded therapeutic support, including Guided Self-Help sessions, Couple Counselling for Depression, Psychological Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Individuals who feel they could benefit from some form of psychological support to help them deal with their conditions and sort out their problems to get back on their feet can refer themselves by ringing 01843 293844.
Addaction’s Mental Health Services are free and an assessment will are being offered within a week of referral with ongoing sessions offered the following week.
