Staff from the Mental Health Services donned lifejackets and rowed for England in the inaugural ‘Dover Port Dash.’
The rowing challenge formed part of the Dover Regatta and saw teams racing across the harbour in Thames Cutters in an exciting battle to be first to cross the finish line.
The Addaction team included Alison Bishop, John Peach, Anna Cooper, Hannah Foster, Flic Caryer and Andy Dalziel, a mixture of High Intensity Therapists and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners from Ashford, Medway and Thanet. A cox for the boat was kindly provided by Dover Rowing Club.
The team was well represented, showing off their Addaction t-shirts and hosting a promotional stand, manned by Ali Marsh, Ashford Manager, and Lynda Burr, Kent Operations Manager. By the end of the day the team had received 6 referrals for the Thanet mental health team, 3 of which are for our new Dover clinic which starts on 12 August.
Although unfortunately the team were not crowned the winners of the race, they had a great day and it was very successful in terms of promoting how we can help people in the area. Well done team!
