Join Addaction’s mental health team in Margate for regular walks and swims. The Friday sessions are held for clients and non-clients, to get together to enjoy exercise, meet new people, aid recovery and boost mood.
The free walks start at 1.30pm from 1 Cecil Street, Margate and will be held on Friday March 6th and Friday April 10th.
Swims will start at 2.30pm at Hartsdown Leisure Centre, Hartsdown Road, Margate and take place on Friday February 20thth and Friday March 20th. For Addaction clients, the swim is free but for others who come along, it’s £3.10 for non-members and £2.15 for members of the leisure centre. (Prices are discounted on usual entry as part of the Addaction swim)
Both groups, run under the Move to Improve scheme, are open to Addaction mental health clients and other people who want to join in with some exercise, meet new people and find out if Addaction can help them.
Pablo Lopez Martinez said: “Exercise has such a profound effect on our happiness and well-being that it’s actually been proven to be an effective strategy for overcoming depression. “Come and join us to see what it can do for you – we’d love to welcome you. “You don’t have to be depressed to gain benefit from exercise, though. It can help you to relax, increase your brain power and even improve your body image, even if you don’t lose any weight. “Walking and swimming are great for wellbeing and can help to de-stress, leaving you feeling positive and keeping you fit at the same time and in our groups, it’s social too.”
