Health and wellbeing

Health walks are short, volunteer-led local walks aimed at those who wish to be more active. Walks are generally between 40 to 90 minutes and leave from accessible venues such as libraries and leisure centres throughout east Kent. There is no need to book, just turn up for a free HealthWalk. Most of the HealthWalks finish with refreshments and a chat. Walking in a group is a great way to start walking and to stay motivated. You’ll make friends, discover new places to walk in your neighbourhood and improve your health and wellbeing at the same time.

Kent Carers Emergency Card Information

Tel: 01634 577 340 – Gillingham or 01304 364 637 – Deal

One of the main concerns that carers have is what will happen to the person they look after if they are taken ill or involved in an accident.
The Carers’ Emergency Card provides the peace of mind by providing access assistance in emergencies.
Carers are issued with a credit card sized card that the carer should carry at all times so that it can be used as an instant source of identification in the event of an accident or sudden illness.
The card does not have any personal details on it, only a unique registration number and the telephone number of the central help line.
In an emergency situation anyone can telephone the number on the card and quote the unique registration number printed on the card.
The contact centre uses the registration number to easily access the carer’s pre-arranged emergency plan and puts it into action.
This free service is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.
Eligibility this emergency card is for anyone who cares for someone else and lives in Kent. Young carers (under 18) can also apply.
